Mr Thomas. P. Jackson
Sub Asst Com 11th Sub Dist Va

Sir
In reply to your enquiry in regard to Schools at Charlotte C.H. I have the Honor to State that there are two Schools at that place for colored children, One is taught by Mrs Dr Brown, and the other by Miss Bettie. S. Mack, the latter has recently recommenced teaching and had when I was there this month fifteen pupils, with a good prospect for more. I therefore respectfully recommend the renewal of the former appropriation of Five dollars per month as rent suspended April 30th 1868, I have been to Charlotte C.H. regularly every month since I took charge of the division, and no such person as Mathew W. Jackson has ever applied to me for rent for past use of a School, nor do I know of the existance of but one other School in the County, and I am certain that the Schools of Mrs Brown and Miss Mack are the only ones within Eight miles of the Court House:

Very Respectfully
Your obedient Servant
