Dear Sir,
Your valued favor of the 29th ult is received and contents carefully noted. In a former communication it was said to you "nominate a good man." This was in respect directly to your suggestion that a party be selected to travel and secure homes for the people at Camp Nelson. I will appoint any good man for that duty that you may select.
It seems to be very difficult to [[?]] for the mass of colored people in Ky. until after [[underlined]]Slavery[[/underlined]] is abolished legally everywhere throughout your now much agitated Commonwealth. I pray your people may act & vote wisely next week and that Kentucky may strike for the freedom peace & [[?]]
