Sir:
I am directed by the Asst. Com. to inform you that in addition to instructions contained in a letter from this office dated October 12th 1868, informing you that your services would not be required after 31st inst., you will observe the following.
All office furniture for which Mr Fred S. Palmer Sub-Asst. Comm'r, Memphis, Tenn, may be accountable, will be shipped to him at that place. 
The Disbursing Office has been ordered to furnish the necessary transportation.

Before relinquishing control of this Bureau for the State of Tennessee, I desire to express to you my high appreciation of the fidelity, honesty, and sound judgement with which you have discharged your duties as Agent at Clarksville. With great opportunities to injure and to aid the people of that section both white and colored
I have never yet heard a word spoken or written of you in blame but much in praise.  The colored people, especially the school children and ex federal soldiers and their widows and orphans are under great obligation to you and your zeal and integrity in their behalf. Wishing you the prosperity and happiness that reward honest dealing and legitimate effort.
