and had made preparations to one of two of the public horses, when they were discovered by the watchman. They succeeded however in carrying off the ambulance harness.
For this and other reasons. I have respectfully to request that a small guard of soldiers be furnished for the protection of the public property here for a few weeks at least. Only one sentinel will be needed.
