King Wm Court House Va.
August 28th 1868

Dear Sir,
The end of the month is near at hand my Lady friend has done all she could & raised very little toward pay of my teachers for the reason that the people all have some society to give to - She can keep me supplied with books - I have out of my own pocket $20.00 to pay. The 5th of next month. I have assumed too much & cant stand it - Plainly when this school work needs help to live - It is the same at "Cat Tail & West Point Church - Genl Armstrong wrote me that you could. where it would keep up schools which could not be otherwise sustained furnish from private sources 25 cts per scholar. If this help could be furnished here or even 20 cts per scholar I could get the rest our of Freedmen Board &c - I hope my application for the money for "Cat Tail" will be approved. It is a very central point & it makes a fine school House
