Dear Sir,

The. undersigned respectfully represents. that at much. expense. and labor. he. erected a school-house for the education of Colored children. This house was occupied by a colored teacher and successful school for. four months. from about. April 17" to July 17" on the night of which day the house was burned by those unfriendly to the education of the people of color.

Being unable to suffer. all the loss connected with this matter, and anxious to do what I can towards repairing the damage done our cause, I respectfully present a claim for the rent of said house. during the said four. months at Twelve dollars. ($12.00) per. month. trusting that in this or some other mode usual to your Bureau, relief will be rendered a community too poor to suffer this loss.
