in such away, that it may be held in trust, throughout all future time - first for Freedmen School purposes and Secondly for the use of the Christiansburg African Baptist Church, which through my humble instrumentality has been organized at Christiansburg. My trouble is how best to secure it, as I have not the least doubt, that unless it can be firmly held by law, for the benefit of the Freed-people, it will be wrested from them, and used for other purposes. Indeed, indirectly I have been informed by the colored people, that such threats have been made. There is a board of "Colored" trustees, good men, belonging to the Church, would it be safe to commit it by deed into their hands? In regard to the whites I would not know who to trust. The amount given by the Bureau as you perceive, is included in this property, and as it has been strictly appropriated, in agreement with official instructions, and to be used for the purposes intimated, I presume it will meet with the approval
