a "nigger" school being any where in sight but I hope to be able to convince them that a "nigger" school is no worse than to have around them so many ignorant and dirty negroes growing up in the lowest view. I have the promise of land upon which to set it.

If that is not large enough to accommodate the scholars I shall rent a room if possible or build an addition to that. I hope to be able to rent a room until I can build an addition. there is much interest awakened among the freedmen and I think they will be able to assist if they can be properly organized for the work. The movement appeals so to the better sense of the whites that nearly all opposition is silenced.
