Petersburg Va. Sept. 25th 1868

Mr Manley; Dear sir.

I write a line to let you know I have been successful with my school in the country and had the pleasure after two and half months of pleasant labor in my former school of breaking up on the 19th. I have had the benefit of much kindness and indulgence from my friends since I have been in this school, which I trust may be continued in my next field of labor. I feel I have much to make me humble, obedient, and kind. Mrs. McKay and Maj Stone has assisted me much with kind words, as well as kind deeds. I am getting ready to start over on Monday the 28th inst. and if there is no objection, will stop at the Bakery. Hoping this may find your family quite well and happy.

I beg to remain.
Most Faithfully yours.
Annie Alston.
