King Wm Courthouse Va.
October 4th 1868.

Dear Sir.

I shall be at the cars in the morning to meet the lady although it rains & I fear she will not come.

The Northern family nearest the school house are so unwell that they would not consent to board her at present. The other family are too far away. I have for the present secured board & lodging for her with a Southern white family nearer the school house than either. Within easy visiting distance of both northern families for $15.00 per month. I can if she cant get along boarding with them secure part of their house for a moderate rent where she can keep house or the 1st of Nov when the nearest northern family have their white servant girl return from the north she can go there. That they have promised me so she will only have to submit to temporary inconvenience even if she don't find this a pleasant boarding place. It is in many respects desirable. It is only a half mile from school house. The building owing to delay.
