Dear Sir,
My letter of yesterday said school would open tomorrow. I come & find disappointments about workmen &c have delayed still further. I propose now to stay here until the work is done & hurry it up. Dungie has done all he could & more than his share by a good deal. I am sorry for the delay which however will be but a few days longer. The fact is the colored people are constantly assailed by an undercurrent of misrepresentation & opposition to the schools which crops out in want of interest in the school work & in questions as to whether it is a pay school or free school &c. I can stay here till Wednesday - & by that time will have the school about right. The building must be right for winter use. Have patience
