Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
Office Superintendent of Education, District of Virginia,
Richmond, Va., Oct. 24th 1868

M.S. Hopkins
A.S.A.C

Dear Sir:

The Bureau offer of $1000 toward the erection of a Normal School building at Charlottesville holds good; but we should not think it best to put any expensive repairs on the old building as it is. How expensive is the lot on which the old building stands? Can the lot purchased be sold or exchanged for this?

I am having a plan of a building drawn which when completed I will submit to you and Miss Gardner. Then your mechanics can be consulted as the cost and we shall know better what is possible to be done.

Very Respy
