former county. Mr Kimball spoke of the amt. of money need for the rent being applied toward the support of a teacher in these several places, and thought by making application to you, I could be obtained. Our experience in North the past yr. & a half, proves that enough cannot be raised from the col'd people to properly support the teacher. Miss Goodyear of the Hevaland Sch. last yr. recd. hardly a dollar per wk. Of course she could have not obtained bd. for this sum, except that Dr. Nash who could avail himself of the sch. for the benefit of his own children, was satisfied with this amt.

Mrs. Foster told me but a week ago, that she had paid out of her own pocket, twenty dolls. more than she had rec'd although her sch. averaged a good part of the time between 80 & a hundred pupils.

Miss Putnam left here this morn.
