Mr. Manly
Dear Sir
I have a new Teacher Mip Wadsworth. She came here day before yesterday for teacher hire. She says Mr Jones the Agent or President or whatever he may be of the Asc. that sent her here told her she would receive $10 a month from the Bureau. Is this so.
You know that in my extremity I induced a white man Mr Safenight to take the school. He has taught six weeks & was to receive. $33.33. a month. & has received but about $18. In your letter to me of Sept. 30 you say. "If he, (Mr Jones) does not provide, I will see that the $15. you ask for Mr Safenight is made up." I have no idea that these people here will save enough to pay the Teachers board. & judging from the past. Can't you therefore allow me $10 for the school in Wytheville. monthly. commencing Oct 1st 68. This will make everything run smooth.
I am Sir Very Respectfully Your Obt Servant
