for the 6 weeks he taught, without a note of warning a Miss Wadsworth appears, which occasions my turning out Mr Safenight. By strong expectation I got about $10 more. So that Mr Safenight returns after one & 1/2 months work with about $20 in his pocket. Your letter states that "Mr Jones will be in Richmond in two days" Viz. Oct 2nd "when I shall know." Now Mr Safenight & myself have really been at any rate since about Oct 5th looking for the $15 a month. Nor would he have continued his experiment beyond Oct. 31st had not Mr S felt from the terms of your letter that he was sure of the $15.

I write this in hope for that as Mr Safenight certainly could expect nothing else, you will find some way or other to give him $15 for a month and a half. viz $22.50 in all. Please look over my letter to you & your reply & I feel certain you will agree with me.

Very respectfully
Your Obt Servant H G Thomas
