colored school Trustees.

Mr Fultons action in the matter will have a very strong influence throughout the entire county. He would were he not a union man be the leading man in the Co. He is very popular as a union man. It will be a most excellent thing for the colored people.

I am thus far disappointed in getting land from his Bro. as was agreed upon. It is mixed up in some way with the claim of a Mr Dickey. I suppose however from all I can learn there will be no difficulty in keeping the school here on the land in Mr Dickey's life time. I suppose this cutting up & sharing appropriations & making one hand wash the other may seem small triumph to the Supt of Education, but were he here I know he would see the difficulties of doing anything according to fixed customs, & as I know he feels as much interest as I do in giving these poor people a start before the Bureau breaks up. I shall hope for the appropriation as asked for
Very Respectfully Your V O Servant
