Charles City County Va December 2nd 1868
Capt C R Cook
Dear Sir
The Coulord people of my vacinaty have been trying to start a school They have about fifty schollars and without some help from the Bureau or some other source it will fall. The large majority of them are very poor not able scarcely to make a support it will be a bad policy to let them grow up in ignorance. They are doing all they can and I think if the Bureau could give them one hundred and fifty dollars and let it be spent judiciously. They could keep the school up and make it of great benefit to the rising generation I hope you will do something for them
Most respectfully
Your friend
