Chap R. M. Manly:
Richmond Va.

Dear Sir: I applied for $10.00 rent at Lexington, about the time the school opened, through the Bureau Offices - I did this in part because I had the promise of a renewal of the rent, when school opened again, last Summer, and also because I had been informed that it was proposed by Gen. Howard to give ten dollars aid to each teacher. Please inform me whether this $20.00 per month has been posted or not. If it has not, I suppose this school will properly go in with the number for which the A. M. A. will receive the $10.00 for teachers - If it has, I suppose it will not. Am I correct?

Very Respectfully
N. C. Markett
