In reply to your endorsement of Dec 2/68 on communication of Rev. R.M. Manly respecting the establishment of a school at Clover, I have the honor of making the following report. 

I have made two visits to Clover and find the colored people interested in the subject and willing to subscribe, - some money and some labor - about $150, in money has been subscribed and I think I can get $250, of which amount however - as you doubtless know - we cannot count upon more than one half. I can get labor subscribed to the amount of $150. That will give us from $250. @$300 The greatest obstacle I have found in the way is in securing a piece of land. Some three or four parties own all the land about there. One party would give the land but has gone into bankruptcy and consequently cannot give a title, one party
