Rev R M Manly

Dear Sir
Your letter of the 22nd was duly received. I had just given you the number of Pupils on the list this month as I had been abroad since the first of July and just returned the first of this month and did not know just where to begin to give in the number I have been teaching here almost 3 years [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] (vacations excepted) and thought perhaps I had better commence now for a new term Mr Murphy was teaching in my absence. He expects to return some time in January. As to my associates I board in rather a pleasant family they [[strikethrough]] are [[/strikethrough]] from the circle of my associates entirely
I know I should be and hope I am thankful for even a few with whome I can
