Rev. Mr Manly
Dear Sir
After your kindness towards us in appropriating $30.00 for to repairing the school house which is in order. I must now ask you to aid me for my expence is more than I get for the tuition of the children. There is no societies giveing me any support; & my school house is run by the Freedmen. I have my Board to pay which is $1.15 per week. In the month of December I taught school & with some 23 scholars I could not pay my Board. Please send me some school blanks & I'll try and make out the reports and send them in every month,

Please send me word what I must depend on
Your servant
