R. M. Manly, Supt &c-
Dear Sir,
Yours of Jan 8th rec'd. In answer to your first question, there has been no school, since last summer, but have been now had it not been for the management by which all the col'd churches collect a tax & turn in the same to the "A.M.A." not being disposed to teach the children of such (& we had a no.) while they pay elsewhere. I have decided to keep open one day school - & collect from each child -(acceding to your Richmond plan). I have just sent the Teacher from that ch - (where a large No pay the Church tax) to Tayler's Farm where we have 60 pupils on the Roll -
Regarding Deep Creek, had your answer been decisive - I could tell just when we will open.- This week or next if you will reply by a return mail & favorable answer; we shall have from 80 to 100 children - & need two teachers -: Pa - has abandoned the work, & I now resume it for NY whose work it.
