In P. George Co Va 1st District the Freedmen made two unsuccessful endeavor to establish a day school in said District which failed untill at the request of Maj Stone I went there the 1st of Nov 1868

And started a day school which so far is success the last month ending the 29th  enroled 28 male and females 45 regular attendants and as I received Compensation from you for the month of Dec'r by request I would ask the same kind favor as the Neighborhood is poor many formaly Slaves and 10 or 12 orphans of the Schollars my pay from them is only 6 or 7 Dollars per month and Board   The Beaurau pay rent I am also requested to refer you to Brev't Maj E.S. Ewing
