We have not rec'd any "rent" yet - though the school at "Big Oak" has been kept since the 1st of Dec. 68 - The school having been closed only two months of [[strikethrough]] fifteen [[/strikethrough]] seventeen. Please put me in the way of getting "rent" by forwarding Blanks or otherwise.

There is not, to my knowledge, a school for whites in this Co. unless it be a family school. Could any assistance be gotten for such a school from the Peabody fund? To what extent? And how?

Yours Truly
Thos G. Murphey

P.S. Could & would allow rent & for average attendance of Scholars to a white negro who has been teaching near Painesville in this Co.? The parents are not able to pay any thing towards his support - hence the school is closed.
