Dear Mr. Manly:
I have today received a letter from C.S. Hamrice of Chesterfield Co, Va Address Box 750, Richmond, a stranger to me, who asks for a loan to enable him to recreate the team on his farm & consequently to cultivate his land fully.

He says that he owns his farm, 250 acres, & tools, & that the money asks for, 175 Dis, which he promises to repay in a year, will make him all right.

Please tell me if you know him & in such case, if the money will be repaid. I don't know that I can help him, but wish to be better informed.

Yours Truly
Frans Geo Shaw
