Dear Sir,
I enclose the credentials of Mr Tatum who is elected to represent the county at the Convention to nominate State officers at Petersburg on the 9th March next. As it is not convenient for Mr T. to attend will you please put the papers in the hands of some good trusty Republican, black or white who will fulfill the purposes of the appointment.
You have probably recvd a letter from Miss Putnam stating why she did not report her school for the mo. of Jan. The building is now all right. she has already sent her report to Col. Lee for the month of Feb. Miss Goodyear will get hers off tomorrow. both of these ladies have received letters from the Secy of the Friends Freedmen's Aid Society. N.Y. Mrs Baker & they report to her regularly. I hope Mr Jones will be able to make some arrangement with you so that they can receive the benefit of the Peabody fund beginning with the month of Nov.
