As I have been teaching school the Freedman's I thought I would write you a few lines, Ann Smith was teaching this school and as she thought she was not competent of teaching she employed me as teacher and she was assistant, our school was going on very well, all of the pupils parents were well pleased no fault found whatever, Mr Geoghaghan were teaching a school also at $11.00 per month, and they did not like to be paying him when there were a free school going on. he would not pay them their money back, so he writes to Cromwell to come over as he was trying to get him up another free school, they had a meeting did not use my name at all, only Ann Smiths so they turned me off with no fault and took Geoghaghan, Ann Smith told them, she did not wish to teach with him.  So Cromwell this morning told them Geoghagan were principal Ann Smith assistant, did not mention my name at the same time he knew I were teaching and now I am turned off without a cent after teaching two months.  I did not think it is right.  Cromwell would not let those that were for any school speak the last night they had a meeting.  Had everything fixed when they got to the house.  As Geoghagan's side is gaining by his teaching, he has been turned out of good imployment twice by getting drunk no white person will give him any kind of business to do as he is a worthless nothing.
