in uniting the parties by appointing the favorite of one as principal, and that of the other assistant and the school opened with 94 scholars the 1st. day. The charge of drunkenness made by A. McFarlin was entirely new to us; not even suspicion of unsteady habits having been intimated. We will carefully investigate this. 
We are under obligation to thee for calling attention to it, and will be to whenever thou may see in our schools any irregularities requiring our action. If in thy opinion it would be wiser, I have no doubt our Committee will consent to lay the Clarksville school down as soon as they can with propriety do so.
