I wrote in last request of you, to send some Books, which the school stand greatly in need at present. I have a class of ten, who have spelled through the fourth speller, they now stand in need of books with deffanation, which I have tried hard to procure but failed to do so, should you get them, please to forward them at some early date. I have an assistant teacher with me whose name is Cate Ellett, married, the mother of two children, from Fortress Monroe. Commence teaching, December, the first and the only money, payed to her as yet 85c for five month. Shame, shame, shame.
