Mr. R. M. Manly,

Dear, Sir,
I received your kind letter written 24th of April. I was very glad to hear from you in deed for when I arrived here I found the schoolhouse unfinished, and the people very anxious to have a school, to educate their children. I have commence the work.

I commence on the sthaf [staff] delay not being able to commence because I could not see the people sooner.

I commence with 16 pupils, now I have 24 and five night pupils. The people is in such conditions as not to be able to contribute to the school more than 25 cents per mont, for their tuition and ten cents for their books.

I have parted with all spelling books.

Please send me another package, of spelling book. about 30. Mr. [[strikethrough]]May[[/strikethrough]] Manly I would be glad for you to send them as soon as you can if they could get here next week I would lik it very much.
