Mr. Manly,

Dear Sir:

I arrived here Thursday Evening - Mrs. Gordin had received your letter and was expecting me, Mr. Melody is still teaching and seems to think that there has been some mistake made in sending another teacher here, He informs me that no assistance from any source have even been given him,
I visited his School Friday by his request, found nineteen pupils present, which he informed was about the usual attendance for the last two months,
I have seen some few of the leading men of the village and they seem to think there can be a pretty good School started her. I dont like to advise them in any respect and shall let them do as they please about sending their children, I understand that Mr. Melody intends to continue teaching, I do not think the population sufficient to carry on two schools successfully. Mrs. Gordin requests me to say to you that she will board me for eight dollars.
