Dinwiddie, V.A. May the 24th 1869,

Major G. O. White

Dr Sir.
Allow me to bring to your notice a Great Wrong. I am creditably informed, that Isaac S. Keeler of this County has in his possession a Box, or Boxes of School Books for the Freedmen of this County. And knowing as I do, he is not the true friend of our cause, I write this in hopes that the wrong may be remided, as I cannot see how one of our most bitter opponents came into possession of said Books, knowing as I do, that the Books are wanted for use now in our Schools, and as I have spent my money in aiding the cause. I cannot but help thinking that some one has been humbuged, and would be glad to see said Books used for the purpose intended.

With all due respect
I am for the cause,
D. G. Carr

To the Freedmens Bureau, Richmond.
