Rev. Mr. Manley

Very dear Sir
Your kind favor of the 24th inst. was duly received. The Package of Book Slates &c. sent to Hicksford for me I have not yet received - hope to, the first of next week. I shall be able to get along without the 2nd & 3rd Readers as the term is so near its close. We thank you (enclosed please find the sum of $3.12) for your trouble in procuring and forwarding the slates, pencils &c. as well as for the grammars geographies together with the package sent via E.B. Jones. Certainly I will endeavor to comply with your suggestion so as at least to realize 10 cents each for the books.
It is a matter of real pleasure to us to know that our efforts in teaching receive your approbation and, certainly, your good will, as expressed to the commissioner in our behalf is fully and gratefully appreciated
