Mr Manly
Sir
I went down to the office this morning to see the postmaster concerning the letter that was sent with the six dollars, and he knew nothing of it. It had never been received by me. I think if you will write him it may do some good as by all means the postmaster should be made responsible for all letters containing money. No letters containing money should be delivered to anyone but the person to whom they are sent. I would rather you would retain my salary until Mr Roane comes over to Richmond.
