Portsmouth Va July 10th 1869

Rev. R.M. Manly

Dear sir, one thing more we wish to know. Is it the intention of the Bureau to make this school building for the general good of all people of Portsmouth, and not denominational? if it is for the general good of the whole people, and not sectarian, I feel we can make it a success. The whole thing look as though it had a baptist origen, which a little dampens the interest of the Methodist brethren. The cause of this is, I have a letter from the baptist home mission room, N.Y. where the object seems to have originated. Please drop me a few lines, and say, it is not a denominational enterpriz, but it is for the general good of the whole people, with that I feel we can make it a success. Please answer this at once.

Very respectfully,
E.G. Corprew
