I do not wish you to think that I want to teach the children for nothing but the love I have for teaching, but to let you know that I have no objection to teaching them if by this means I can relieve my own circumstances for I am an orphan entirely dependent on poor relations for a support.

I do not think I could get as much as $6.00 from the people if I got as many as 25 scholars unless they are more willing to pay than heretofore. Therefore I appeal to you to do what you can for me.
