Poplar Mount Va
June 22nd/69

Mr. R.M. Manly
Richmond Va,

Sir:

I wrote some time since requesting you to inform me whether I would receive any pay for the
rooms for the back months, which you did not mention in yours of the the 7th. You will please send me word in your next.

I heard some time since, that the Bureau would give $10. per month assistance for teaching, which I thought if received, I could afford to teach each pupil for the small sum of 40 cts. per month, - which I have been teaching for from the 4th of January to the present, expecting some assistance from the Bureau. You will please inform me whether I will receive any thing or not, so I will know what to charge.

I hope I do not disturb or bother you by requesting so much information

Your Obedt. Servt.
J.H. Hamlin Jr.

PS The people are so poor they say they can't pay until after their crops are made
