Dear Sir,

Yours of the 6th inst was not received till yesterday as I have been absent.

With regard to your inquiries as to whether anything practical can be done in the direction of building, I think there can be. I am strongly in favor of there being a good school building in Portsmouth. There has been a good deal of money expended in it at different times following up buildings and paying rent still since the first year I was there we have had miserable accommodations The farther our school advances the more I realize this. The labor of procuring is [[?]] as well and the employment
