the desperate determination of the Rebels to drive the Northerners out -
With $700 Miss Stubbins could pay taxes & save the land; and her noble, valuable life and work here would be an untold blessing to the whole country -
If any funds of the Bureau could be applied to build a school house on this land it would be a timely prop to the great cause of Education of the Freedmen now in peril, by the lawless pro[[?]]tion the Rebels are emboldened to make of us all - Mr. Dow's efforts for all our schools, deserve this moral support & recognition from the Bureau.
