Dear Sir
My School was cloased the First of July to Stand Cloased until the First of Sept I thought it expediant to give vacation Sir I am much indebt to you for not giving notice.
I hop I may be excues on account of being in a dark part where the Light of information dont Shine.
The School was Started by and thought hard work all owen to ignorence and Suspersittion from many Sides: 
I am behind hand one month in Rent and that is for January:
Sir now I applied to Capt R. L. Lacy Sometime in December who informed me that there were no more appropriation for [[strike out]] L [[/strike out]] any more Schools then was [[strike out]] then [[/strike out]] made. but if there was he would help me in the Rent matter So I occupied the Room and proseaded to teaching January the first. accordingly Capt R. L. Lacey give me the Intention making it from January 3rd 1869.  approved my himself: and Garrett Mallery Bvt Col. U.S.A. a.a. G. G.
