R. M. Manly Esqr
August 9th 1869
Charlotte C. House

Dear Sir
The school where my Plantation has never closed for a single day and is now in operation with a good teacher and has between 50 and 60 scholars in regular attendance. A Mr. Bowzer, coloured, succeeded Cromwell before Cromwell's departure an excellent teacher from Philadelphia and education at the same school with Cromwell and I believe so far has given more satisfaction to his patrons. I appreciate all I receive from the govt to the school and when the school ceases or closes permanently or temporarily I will inform you or I would scorn to receive a cent for the benefit of the school or any other purpose illegally or unfairly in any respect whatever.
Respectfully
Wm T Scott
