I left Hampton Normal School July 5 for a vacation of three months to teach school during the time. I commenced July 19 & have labored greatly this little while in trying to help bring up my race. I enjoy being in this great & noble work much. I shall endeavor to do all that I can during my short stay here at home. This place has been destitute of school house & every other place of education but now we have a very neat looking school H suiated on a piece of ground that one of our white
