Tappahannock Sept 7th 1869

Mr Manly

Honored Sir,

Some time a go, I pened you a few lines, asking some aid from the Peabody funds, to me in purchasing some coal, for the use of the approaching winter-, to which I no answer from you, perhaps you did not receive the letter, so I concluded to pen you a few more lines, which I hope will reach you safe, that you may not procrastinate the time in answering those lines, as it is a matter of vast importance to me. There will be a vessel load of coal, arrived here in Tappahannock, this month if I cannot get [[strikethrough]]the[[/strikethrough]] some coal then, I may never have a another chance to do so this year. I consumed two tons + half, last winter, selling for ten dollars, per ton; per haps it may be cheaper this year, please gave me your answer next mail,

by so doing,
you will oblige your
Friend + well wisher,

Richmond Robinson
