Christiansburg, Va.
September 11th 1869.

Rev. R. M. Manly
Supt. of Education, Va.

Dear Sir:
Yours of the 6th inst. is at hand, relative to Miss Eastman's application for aid towards building an addition to her School room.

The work is partially completed - it will cost $500. Miss Eastman proposed to collect all the money, and therefore
the freedmen were not solicited for aid - except to dig out the cellar. She has not as yet informed me how
far she has succeeded in securing the funds. I have paid bills thus far with some little inconvenience, out of my own private funds. I can give you fuller information, after corresponding with her on the subject.

Very Respectfully,
C S Schaeffer Asst. Supt of Schools
