Auburn Nofs.
Sept 13th 1869

Rev. R.M. Manly

Kind Sir,
Yours of Sept 8 received: as also that of July 26th and should have been earlier answered could I have written definitively. Our people have now fully decided not to assist in supporting a teacher among the Freedmen. But I intend to return to Richmond if you are sure that I can collect $30.00 per month.

Miss Barrett will return if her health will permit.
Miss Crouch also if she can raise her salary.

When will the school commence?

Respectfully
M. Lizzy Knowles
