Mangohic [[Mangohick]] Church, King Va; Sept 27th 1869

Mr Manly,
Dear Sir:
I have arrived here safely; and hasten to report to you, the condition of the church, in which I have to teach. There are five windows, that need frame, and glass; two of them, nine feet by three; the other three, are about six by two. One of the doors, is not very strong; and I think it would be safe, to make a good, new one. All the work, can be done, by carpenters here; if you will be so kind, as to pay for it, for me, We [[strikethrough]] have [[/strikethrough]] can be done, by the colored people here, I hear no objection to the school; and think, when I get straight, can raise a good one, if you send me the money in a letter, I can send a man to Richmond, for the pipe, and glass. I will commence my school, next Monday; and hope you will say in your next, what Saturday we may send for you at the Depot. I take the liberty to inform you, that the colored people here also are much affected as regards previous condition.
