Dear Sir

I received your circular in reference to rent for Freedmans school House on my farm for the present month Sept- The Teacher left about the 10th of this month for another situation another Teacher was expected to take his place immediately but who has not yet arrived and is now daily expected

The last teacher Binyon gave entire satisfaction had a large and flourishing school between 50 & 60 scholars and I was very sorry he left. I do not think I ought to receive pay when the House is not occupied which has not been the case since the 10th. I will let you know when the Teacher arrives or if he does not come soon will ask you to aid us in getting another I contribute all I get for the benefit of the school and wish they could get more as I feel a deep interest in the education and proper training of the colored race who now have equal
