Georgia, but never yet met such decided opposition. Perhaps it would be well that I should be commissioned by some one of the Educational Associations.

At present, the freedmen are supporting the school. paying .50¢ per scholar each month - When I came here, there was no encouragement for one wishing to establish a school, no school board, nor any one who could inform me in relation to the number of scholars - I have a fine Sunday School now, besides nearly 70 pupils in week school, and many more will attend when the crops are gathered. Hope I shall not be interfered with by the Rebels, and shall not, if the Govt. assures support.

Very Respectfully
Thomas A. Cushman
