Mr. R.M. Manly

Yours of September 8th has been received and according to your proposition, I have succeeded in raising a school. You said in yours that if I could raise a school of not less than 30 scholars to commence Oct 1st & to continue through the Winter that you would secure me aid to the amount of $15. per month. I opened on the 1st of Oct. with 31 scholars, & have now 35, and applications almost daily. If you would be willing to raise my salary a little, I am sure that I could get about 15 more pupils, but do not think that $15. per month rewards me for such a large number of pupils as I have.-- Please be so kind as to let me hear from you at your earliest opportunity in regard to this matter.

Very Respectfully
S.E. Bolling

To R.M. Manly The above has been answered offering her $20. per mo. and we depend upon Shee to pay $5. of it from the Peabody fund.
