My Dear

Sir I thank you for the check you sent of $8.00 for my rent and returns the receipt. But I must say I am not satisfied with the small amount I am getting. The House needs repairing and I am not able to do it. It is not comfortable for either teacher or scholar, now if I could get an increase of rent I would put it in good order say about $16 in all every month is all I shall or do ask, but I shall sell it to the Freedman if you will buy it for them $12.00. But if I do not get more rent or something to put it good repair I shall be oblige to have the school removed so I can rent it to those who will pay more for I am a poor man I can not afford to lose so much. If something is done in the way of rent it shall always be for a school for the Freedman if you do not buy please let me know what can be done

Yours with Respect
